Why should I care about something if the game itself obviously doesn’t? The original Dark Souls had a similarly hidden story, though the game’s world made up for it. Personally, I figure that if the game doesn’t try very hard to make sure I know what the story is, it can’t be that important. I’ve not spent any time going through the lore. If you’re really interested in the story, you can go online and read detailed history lessons contained on the Dark Souls II wiki. Hints of lore and world building are hidden in item descriptions, loading screens, and in conversations with other characters. That’s notable, because Dark Souls games are not known for having a clearly communicated story.
(On a side-note, you gotta switch your controller to D-Input mode.Dark Souls II lacks a sense of continuity and purpose. Otherwise, I can't really see any other reason to use Guardbreak as with enough patience you can kill them without guardbreaking. Hopefully in the future this will be taken care of but for now, this is all I can think of to do to fix the problem. Also, the B button doesn't back out of the menu like it should (pressing Start, however, closes it.) If anyone can find a fix to these please share!įor those of you wondering, the main reason I did this is because the hollows using shields seem to be capable of blocking even when they're raising their shield to strike you with it, which frankly, is complete bullshit and needs to be patched. It works pretty well, but I've found two minor issues: Your range of motion is a bit duller (more jerky) and you can't walk anymore, just run. The camera is very smooth and can be inverted normally with the X/Y Axis inversion option in-game. I've created a workaround using the Logitech Profiler found here and have mapped all the controller settings to the default keyboard controls.
